Rise Open Day a Success!
Another very popular and successful Open Day was held at Rise on 6th June, where 5 minute local area flights were offered in one of our Bell Jet Rangers for £20.00 per person. These events are proving very popular with people wishing to experience a flight in a helicopter. Even those slightly apprehensive before the flight came back beaming after the experience!
We are hoping to be holding another Open Day soon, so keep checking on the website for an update on this.

Self Fly Hirers put to the Test.
A couple of our Self Fly Hirers decided to put their flying skills to the test by entering the British Helicopter Championships at Sywell Aerodrome on 20th June. Ray Pugh and Matt Ruddy took to the skies in G-IGZZ after some tough training for the events, including precision hovering, slalom and fender. During the slalom, the crew must carry a bucket of water on the end of a rope around a course of various gates, finally placing the bucket on a target. This event is run against the clock, with penalties for missing gates, spilling water and distance from the target centre. Sounds simple, doesn’t it?! The fender event is again an exercise in crew co-ordination and pilot skill. Each crew must carry a boat fender and deposit it in a barrel before returning to the start position and repeating the process twice more. Run against the clock the top crews make it look really easy! After all of their hard work, they were placed 16th out of all of the competitors, so a big congratulations to them both on their success in their first entry in this competition!

FTO status proving popular
Our recent FTO status has been proving very popular with people wishing to do a type rating from the R22 to the R44- a number of our Self Fly Hirers who completed their PPL(H) training here at Rise have already done so, with the R44’s now proving very popular for days out with friends and family. A minimum of 5 hours plus test is all that is required, so if you are thinking of doing it, just give us a call!
