Helicopter Flight Training

Helicopter flight training with RISE HELICOPTERS is totally focused on your needs. Allow RISE HELICOPTERS to demonstrate our flexibility in providing a Helicopter Flight Training schedule suited to your busy timetable.

With our Helicopter Flight Training Course, you can learn to fly a helicopter from scratch or build on skills you’ve already acquired. In pursuit of your Private Pilot Helicopter Licence (PPL(H)), RISE HELICOPTERS can lead you through an intensive full-time course, or via segments designed around your particular needs.

Helicopter Flight Training will be conducted in a two-seater Robinson R22 helicopter, however, there has been an increase in demand for using the four- seater Robinson R44 helicopter (easier to fly and more comfortable).

Here at Rise Helicopters, we aim to assign the same Pilot Instructor to you for the majority of your Helicopter Flight Training, providing a thorough grounding in theory with plenty of flight practice. This one-to-one support means you can build a relaxed and productive partnership with your instructor.

Your instructor will guide you effortlessly through each lesson and make sure you have a full understanding of what you are about to do, whether it is a flight or ground exam. As the number of flights increase, you will be amazed at how easily the theory clicks into place.

HELICOPTER FLIGHT TRAINING at RISE HELICOPTERS
consists of the following:

In the air

  • A MINIMUM of 45 hours flight time. If you already have a Private Pilots Aeroplane Licence, you may be credited with up to six hours towards your helicopter licence, depending on how many flying hours you have.
  • Ten solo flight hours within the 45 hours, including 5 hours of cross country flying.
  • One Solo Flight within the 10 hours must cover more than 100 nautical miles include landing at 2 aerodromes along the way.

On the ground

You will cover the following subjects:

  • Aviation Law and Operational Procedures
  • Aircraft General Knowledge and Principles of Flight
  • Flight Performance and Planning
  • Navigation
  • Meteorology
  • Human Performance and Limitations
  • Radiotelephony

During your Helicopter Flight Training you’ll learn about these through a combination of lessons and training from your Pilot Instructor and self-study at home. You tell us your preferred method of learning and we’ll ensure that you are equipped for the multiple-choice tests that you’ll need to pass in each area as part of your qualification. Rise Helicopters can provide all the books and supplies needed.

Course Costs

You can learn on a “pay as you go” basis for maximum flexibility or pre-book a number of lessons to take advantage of our special advance booking rates.

Pay as you go - £230 + VAT per hour
Advance booking of 10 hours or more - £220 +VAT per hour
Advance booking of 45 hours or more - £220 + VAT per hour
Course literature £200 (No charge with a booking of 45+ hours).

Course Completed!

After you have completed your course, you can fly almost anywhere. You can then truly enjoy the flexibility and flying freedom a helicopter can give you.

To maintain your pilot status, you’ll need to complete 2 hours solo flying each year, and you can do this easily with Rise Helicopters. Our helicopters are available for exclusive hire, so you can keep flying using the same aircraft that you used throughout your helicopter Flight Training.
